The Scout Team
Caroline Hughes, General Manager
Originally from the East Coast, Caroline has worked in hospitality for 15 years. She grew up in the Appalachian Mountains of Western Maryland before studying Art History in New York City. She spent five years in Colorado working in custom framing, coffee shops, and managing a popular local history museum. After a brief stint back east, she headed to Oregon to become the Hospitality Manager at the Minam River Lodge, a luxury backcountry retreat in the Wallowa Whitman National Forest. After three years at the lodge, she relocated to Ketchum and quickly joined the Scout crew!
Ian Doyle, Beverage Director
Born in Chicago and raised on the West Coast, Ian grew up exploring vineyards along the 101 with his parents. As a result, he was heavily influenced by California, Oregon, and Washington wine. He likes to say he fell into the wine industry by chance, but his parents would say otherwise. Ian studied viticulture and enology at Central Washington University then headed to France for hands-on work in Aix-en-Provence. He returned to Walla Walla, WA and continued his education while working at a slew of wineries including L’Ecole No. 41 Winery and Bergevin Lane Vineyards. In Washington, he worked on all aspects of production - from driving a tractor to managing the tasting room floor. After almost a decade in the wine industry, Ian moved into brewing and distilling, which brought him to Ketchum. He eventually made his way back to wine as the wine and beer buyer at Scout.
